SCOTTSDALE, AZ - A new cosmetic procedure promises bigger breasts without the bigger price.
Just Google it and you’ll find article after article touting the “cutting edge” procedure shaking up the world of cosmetic surgery. The Botox Boob Job promises to boost without surgery for a fraction of the price. But, does it work?
“Botox does not raise or lift the breast at all. There is no such thing,” says Dr. Nicholas Soldo, who’s been practicing non-surgical cosmetic medicine in Scottsdale for 15 years.
He calls the whole thing a sham.
“Absolute waste of money,” Soldo says.
Here’s what he says ends up happening: Botox is injected in the chest wall muscle and all it does is prevent the patient from slouching.
“If you stand straight up, you can get the same result free of charge,” Soldo says.
But, Botox for your breasts isn’t always a bust.
“You get to an age and you’re like, ‘oh, I never noticed that before,’” says patient Bridget Heidorn.
When she learned there was something she could do to reverse the signs of aging on her chest she thought why not.
It’s called cleavage rejuvenation and while Soldo says Botox will make these lines disappear, there is a downside.
“You have to repeat every four to six months,” he says.
Soldo says just six months ago an article was published in one of the dermatology journals promoting a new product called Sculptra.
“And the beauty of Sculptra,” explains Soldo, “is once you get the procedure done, it will last you 2-3 years.”
We asked since Sculptra is long lasting, will it cost you more, but Soldo says no.
“As a matter of fact, over the couple of years that Sculptra lasts, it’s going to cost you way less than Botox,” he says.
But, patients like Nicole Lerenard warn to not expect immediate gratification.
“Over the next month or so, you really start to see it plumping up and a lot smoother,” Lerenard says.
There’s a reason it takes so long. Sculptra isn’t a filler. In fact, Dr. Soldo explains the injection actually stimulates your body to produce its own collagen.
Just like Botox, Sculptra can be used on more than just your chest.
Soldo says every couple of years you’ll need two to three treatments, which could run you about $1,500 total.
